1 st September 2010
A day in school is normally like any other day, but there is a day we would like to forget or even recall. It was on September last year and we were in the midst of our half yearly exam, that I got up an hour late. I was feeling quite dizzy ,for I had gone to sleep late last night, after giving finishing touches for my preparation for the English language test. The look at the alarm clock left me pale. I had just 15 minutes to board the school bus. I got up from the bed somehow and finished my daily chores in a hurry .I had somehow got dressed when the bus horned. Clutching my rack and putting the whole texts and notes into it.hen I began to search for my tie and belt and came outside took my shoes and ran outside, the bus was not there in sight. Rushing back I entrusted my father to drop me to school meanwhile scolding from amma for not not getting up early and also for not having the breakfast. My father after giving a pep talk of my carelessness.
I reached school nearly 20 minutes late, I ran and climbed the stairs to my class room which was on the third floor. My principal Rev.Bro Thomas Pushparaj caught me and he gave me this slip for late attendance and also ten marks from my Moral Science was deleted as a punishment. On reaching my class I took my seat and settled down to face my test. My class teacher Mr. George sir is lovely person and he is like our grandpa .He brought me the question papers and he patted me and asked me to drink some water and take deep breathe. The question paper left me dump struck. I pinched myself to see whether it was my sense .Yes it was 1st September and test stated was not English but ‘Maths’.The earth seemed to slip beneath me .Maths itself was my Achilles hill but to give a test without any preparation was a nightmare. I began to attend the questions with trembling hands. After two and a half hours it was finally over. During the lunch break I told about this to my friends .They came to comfort me .I was punished for not bringing the Physics project which I kept completed for more than A month. I was asked to stand outside .Then my Chemistry teacher who saw me late in the morning , asked me a question which I could not answer. I was asked to write the seventh chapter 2 times after my exams.
I t is now over a year but I still have illusions of this nightmare of the day when everything went wrong in school.
