Reading contest is the most keenly watched event at Hill Blooms primarily because it is an indication of the quality of the school itself. No other feed back is as reliable as the number of students who have developed an enthusiasm for READING when it comes to judging where the school is heading in its quest for excellence in education. After closely watching this year’s contest I am once again reminded that parents and teachers have to work much harder to instill a love for reading among Blooms. Class libraries are supplied with a graded list of 40 books to be read by all students of each class. Parents are requested to follow up on their child’s reading in the pages designated for that purpose in the Handbook.

Blooms’ Access to Computers and the Internet:All students need access to computers and internet to function effectively. Resources are being made available on the school website www.hillblooms.in and www.educomponline.com. Sending them to internet cafes or friends’ homes for internet access can be highly counterproductive and I would request all parents to provide them with computers and well supervised net access at home. Getting them to use the internet responsibly is a challenge we have to meet that is as important as developing their Math skills and language skills.

Participation in Bloomsday Program:Those interested in participating in Bloomsday (annual day) stage program, are required to give their names to class teacher before 30th September 2011. Cost is estimated to be between Rs.1000 and Rs.2000. Transparent accounting will be maintained by teachers in charge and conveyed to parents.

All of us here at Hill Blooms wish you and the family a very happy Onam and a prosperous year ahead.

With warm regards,

(Signed)
