I have a message for children who are taking the exam today.
It is about the science of cheating.
Yes. You heard it right. The Science of Cheating.
Now you can direct your thoughts in many ways. How to cheat smarter and defeat the system is one. That is not my purpose.
My purpose is to tell you what happens after you successfully cheat the first time.
Your first cheating will convince your subconscious mind that it is a possibility.
That conviction is something you will never ever get out of. That is the single biggest problem with cheating. It will impact your next exam even if you are not caught. It will impact the way you behave in your interpersonal relationships. Your love life. Your family. Your children.
If you think it is fun and will be forgotten, think again. On the day of your wedding, someone standing around will remember that cheating. If one of them who negotiates on a business deal with you will have it in the back of her mind and will keep your one time cheating as a factor to consider.
Believe it or not, CBI considers it a negative trait in a person when they investigate one.
It is the single biggest evidence that you were trained to have no ethics by your parents. No one might say it aloud. But that is what they think. All good things you do and all cheating you do ultimately points a finger at your family.
It is like that first dose of LSD. A drug. It programs your mind. And even when you want to get out of it, the programming done will prevent it.
Don’t forget the current news is all about just that. Start with Lalloo if you want.
So. Don’t. Not once. Not ever. Do not cheat.
Good morning Team.
1.The abacus exam should be conducted just after the lunch break. Please make sure that they do the exam honestly. Don’t allow them to cheat.
2. All the answer papers should be given back to the children by 8th of February . The parents meeting will be called immediately after that.
3. It is seen that in many answer sheets children are not writing their Name, Class and Subject in a proper manner. Class teachers are requested to show them how to write it properly. This should have been done before the exam. Let us do it now at least.
Teachers who do not know that please refer to GI. Mr Siby has a copy of it.
4. Regular classes must happen in all the classes in the afternoon. Please don’t waste precious time doing small talk. Use the time even if its only one period with a specific objective.
5. All the children who score less than 80 must do the answer sheet from home one more time. Teachers must make sure that they know the answers as well. We will follow up with the help of parents and have parents review the written second answer sheet.
Attention all parents.
We are entering the final phase of this year’s academic year. For me personally and the Management Team in general, the most challenging (and annoying!) feed back this academic year was from one class. I quote: ‘If we don’t teach, children cannot do home work’. I hope you realize the gravity of this statement. It was like, in one statement all that was good about Hill Blooms was wiped out.
This has to be confronted and settled once and for all. Except in the case of a few challenged children, parents shouldn’t have to worry about homework, let alone teach. In any event most of our parents are not equipped to teach too. More over, teachers who dump the task of ‘teaching’ to parents shouldn’t be working in Hill Blooms. This is not a public funded enterprise!
*So Parents, please do your part*.
1. Please make sure your child sits down and works for at least 2 hours in the evening.
2. Message me as soon as you find out your child has a homework she is not able to do herself without your help. Use the following format.
I will maintain privacy and confidentiality. (Even though I do not understand why you can’t exercise your right to have ‘teaching’ over and done with in school.)
Date of homework:
For the kind attention of parents who drive to transportation pick up points to deliver children to school bus.
Coming to your pick up point a few minutes before scheduled time is the right thing to do.
On those rare days when things go wrong and you are late and the bus has left, the next option is NOT overtaking the bus and forcing a stop.
Please go to the next stop and be there before the bus arrives there and join the students there. It may take a few more minutes but you won’t be risking the life and well being of a lot of children including yours.
Please don’t ever overtake the bus in a hurry and force the driver to stop abruptly. It is not acceptable and in the event of repeated happenings parents will be requested to make alternate arrangements for their transportation.
If you are a new driver with limited skills and even more limited understanding of safe practices such as not allowing children to open the right hand side door to get out, please wait till you have a lot more practice on our roads. Our roads are one of the most dangerous on the planet.
Thank your for your kind understanding.
Year 2018 at Hill Blooms is proving to be one of joyous academic accomplishments because of Blooms making their mark in national and state level examinations and competitions.
Sreehari SA of class 10 qualified for a place in the Kerala state list of NTSE (National Talent Search Examination). The list has a total of 111 and he is placed 90th which is specially commendable.
Anupam Loy Geeto of class 8 was placed Third Topper in the SSAT , an all Kerala scholarship examination conducted among 2000 CBSE schools.
Daniel Prakash of UKG won Third place in the all Kerala Balarama painting competition.
NTSE coaching from class 8, News Reading sessions for all Blooms from class 3 and Media Quizzes are beginning to pay off in terms of equipping Blooms to tackle state and national level competitions. Teachers who are actively involved in these initiatives are highly appreciated. Kudos to parents and Blooms who put in active interest and participation. Hill Blooms loves you.
# 03 December 2017
Good morning Bloomsfolks! Autumn is very much in the air and we are all set for Blooms Autumn Fair on Thursday, 7th December 2017.
The Blooms Autumn Fair as always will consist of stalls put up by parents and children. Please contact Ms. Manohary for a space if you have an entrepreneurial idea! Please do not think of this as a business venture alone even though it sure is. The Rs.2000 you pay for the stalls enable us to make contributions to the needy. Last year our contributions ranged from 1000 to 25000 to who are far less fortunate in life than we all are. The accounting is presented every year to parental gatherings by Ms. Manohary, the teacher in charge of the Social Service Club.
There will be on the spot competitions in work experience for which the norm is one student, one item.
The Annual Blooms Western Music Competitions and the Annual Group Indian Dance Competition will be held during the Autumnfest. Bosons, Leptons, Neutrons, Quarks and Tachyons are practicing for the show. Please show up at the venue to encourage them.
The highlight of Autumn Fair 2017 is expected to be the ‘Fusion Violin Event’ presented by our music teacher Steenish and his gang of fellow musicians.
School transportation facility is available in the morning, but not for the return trip. Parents are requested to come and take in the ambience, participate and pick up the children to go back home in the evening. School buses will be very late for the return trip.
The Parents and Teachers Association will hold its annual meeting to elect members for the new year on the day of the Autumnfair. All who are keen to support the school as members of the PTA are requested to come to the meeting place in the afternoon of 7th December when announcements are made in the venue. Time: 5PM.
Please do not stay home on 7th. If you have ideas on navigating your child’s educational path, please do the first step. BE THERE!
